Calvinists have TULIP…We have PULPIT

For years I have been looking for a good alternate acronym to the Calvinistic TULIP to sum up what I believe.

I came across one today at the Unashamed of Grace Blog. It follows the acronym PULPIT instead of TULIP.

Since the key to getting an acronym to stick is wide acceptance and memorablness (is that a word?), go check it out, pass it around, and post a comment about it.

This may be a good acronym to help spread a message different than Calvinism.

He has a great one called GRAPE and also one for Arminianism called PEARS. I can’t remember what they mean, but, ashamedly, I can’t remember what they stand for. lol

I’d go for ROSE, because it starts with Resurrection, something most Calvinists almost ignore. Not sure what the rest of it stands for, but it works not only because it’s a nicer flower than a tulip but also because Jesus ROSE from the dead.

I am assuming you don’t agree with the TULIP thing. That is why you are considering a alternative. is there a certain point of the acronym you disagree with, or the whole thing?

Peter, I’ve never heard Calvinists accused of almost ignoring the resurrection… Until just now that is.

Ron, I used to be a 5 pointer… The I had a problem with P, then the L, and after that, it was all over. Now I suppose I’m a 2.5 pointer….but I don’t believe in 2.5 points, I believe in half of each point. Ha! I guess that actually makes me a 0 pointer. But I’m not Arminian either. I don’t believe in loss of salvation, or any sort of works salvation.

Peter, I like “ROSE” because it is another flower. And the Resurrection is a great way to start. Get the OSE, and we’re in business!
